The Interact Club of Tilbury is stepping into summer with renewed energy after receiving new club shirts designed by its members, made possible through the support of the Rotary Club of Tilbury. Club members celebrated by trying on their shirts and preparing to wear them proudly at upcoming community events as they continue their mission of “Service Above Self.”
Their first major activity takes place on May 30, when students will assist at a barbecue during the Bicycle Ride at the arena beginning at 11 a.m. Funds raised will support the creation of a Peace Pole Garden for the community. On June 6, Interact and Rotary members will host another barbecue at the Town Wide Yard Sale at Cottingham Tire, with proceeds going toward Shelter Box Kits for families in Ukraine and Gaza.
Throughout the summer, the club will hold additional barbecues at local stores to support these peace‑focused projects. Interact Clubs are youth‑driven organizations that empower students aged 12 to 18 to take leadership roles in community service, fundraising and global initiatives. With guidance from local Rotarians, members plan and carry out their own projects, gaining hands‑on experience in teamwork, volunteerism and civic engagement.
Students interested in joining the Interact Club of Tilbury and contributing to local and international service efforts are encouraged to get involved. For more information, contact Kathy at kathy.alcottingham@gmail.com.
