The Town of LaSalle announces the retirement of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Joe Milicia, marking the close of a distinguished 28-year career in public service. Joe’s unwavering commitment to the Town, its staff, and residents has helped shape LaSalle into a model community defined by collaboration, growth, and responsible leadership.
Milicia began his journey with the Town of LaSalle in 1999 as Director of Finance and Treasurer. He advanced to Deputy Chief Administrative Officer in 2014 and was appointed as CAO in 2018. Prior to his service with LaSalle, Joe spent five years at Ernst & Young, where he provided valuable auditing and consulting services to the municipality.
Throughout his tenure, Joe has been instrumental in the realization of transformative projects such as the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex, municipal facilities, LaSalle Landing, and the second fire station. His visionary approach fostered collaboration among Council, staff, and community partners, leaving a legacy of innovation and teamwork.
Reflecting on his career, Joe shared, “Serving our community and organization has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Over the years, I have worked alongside dedicated elected officials, talented staff, community partners, and residents who have all contributed to the success and growth of our Town.
I would also like to thank the many mentors I have had over the years including my parents Sam and Piera Milicia, Ken Antaya, Bob Hayes, Tom Clark, Nick Thomas, and Italo and Anna Bertoni. I would especially like to thank my wife Penny, and children Sam and Sofia for their support and understanding over the years.”
Mayor Crystal Meloche expressed gratitude for Joe’s exemplary service: “On behalf of Council and the Town of LaSalle, I want to thank Joe Milicia for his 28 years of dedicated service to our community. Joe’s leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment have helped shape LaSalle into the strong, financially responsible, and thriving municipality it is today. While we will certainly miss his leadership, I am truly happy for Joe as he begins this well-deserved retirement and has the opportunity to spend more time with his family.”
Ensuring continued stability and progress, the Town of LaSalle is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Marra as the next Chief Administrative Officer, effective January 1, 2027. Peter, the current Deputy CAO, has served the Town since 2010 in various roles, including Manager of Water and Wastewater, Executive Director of Public Works, and Deputy CAO. His extensive experience across municipal operations, coupled with a steadfast commitment to collaboration and accountability, make him an ideal successor.
“I am deeply honoured to be selected as the next Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of LaSalle,” said Marra. “I look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with Council, staff, and the community to support LaSalle’s continued success. I wish Joe the best of luck in his next chapter and thank him for the years of mentorship and coaching.”
Mayor Meloche added, “Peter has been an integral part of our senior leadership team and has played a key role in many of the initiatives that have positioned LaSalle for continued success. I have every confidence that his experience, knowledge, and dedication will ensure a seamless transition as we continue building on the strong foundation that has been established.”
