Windsor will host Warrior Women, a six-city concert and empowerment series spotlighting female musical talent and community support, on Friday, September 18, at Lion’s Head Tavern.
The series, curated by Rose Cora Perry—frontwoman of The Truth Untold—raises funds for Yellow Brick House, supporting women and children escaping domestic violence and abuse. Tickets are $10 for the 19+ event, starting at 7 p.m.
The series features 24 female-fronted bands, five guest speakers, and 21 female-owned businesses across Niagara Falls, Windsor, London, Toronto, Hamilton, and Sarnia. For Perry, herself a survivor of domestic abuse, the mission is deeply personal. “We’re doing more than just celebrating female talent. We’re making a real difference in women’s lives,” she says.
Perry conceived Warrior Women as The Truth Untold sought more performance opportunities in Southwest Ontario. She noticed more women in the music industry sharing their experiences and wanted to foster a sense of women supporting women. The response was overwhelming: “I had to turn away bands because there were too many to book,” Perry says.
Windsor’s lineup includes Moonsuits, The Ashley Lynn Experience, Harbouring Illusions, Electric Muscle Car, and The Truth Untold. For Electric Muscle Car’s Jennifer LeFrank, the cause is especially close. “This is near to my heart—my mother worked to open the first women’s shelter in St. Thomas in the 1970s. Shelters like Yellow Brick House are still needed today.”
LeFrank, who fronts Electric Muscle Car with Warren Fisher (bass) and Scott Weingarden (drums/vocals), is grateful for the chance to contribute: “Thanks to women like Rose, we can help people in need. What better way than through music? It’s going to be a rockin’ night!”
Each stop pairs local bands with The Truth Untold, spotlighting homegrown female talent. Windsor’s event will also feature guest speaker Chantal Vallée, head coach of the Lancers’ women’s basketball team and motivational author. “She’ll kick off the event, pump up the crowd, and celebrate everything women can achieve together,” Perry says.
Windsor businesses are pitching in as well. Steel N Ink is offering a 10% discount on tattoos of the concert series logo, while Better Days Tattoo has donated three gift certificates (valued at $600–$900) for a ticket-draw. Healthy Creations Bakery will give free cookies to the first 50 attendees.
The Truth Untold will debut new material at the Windsor show, with most of their set featuring unreleased tracks from the upcoming EP, Battle Cry, out in November. “Hence Warrior Women and the Battle Cry tour,” Perry explains.
Combining music, local talent, women entrepreneurs, and support for those facing domestic violence, Warrior Women is more than a concert series—it’s about making a difference.
