The Town of Halton Hills is seeking applications for residents to serve on municipal advisory committees for the upcoming term of council.

Council establishes advisory committees to gather community input, advice and recommendations on specialized municipal matters. The town is currently accepting applications for five advisory boards:

Accessibility Committee Advises on removing barriers and improving access to municipal facilities and services.

Active Transportation Committee Helps guide local infrastructure strategy for walking, cycling and trail networks.

Committee of Adjustment Considers minor variances and land severances under Ontario’s Planning Act.

Heritage Committee Provides input on historical conservation, heritage designations and local culture.

Halton Hills Public Library Board Oversees governance, strategic plans and financial policies for the library.

To apply, individuals must be at least 18 years old and either a resident or an owner of property in Halton Hills. Applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

The full criteria and online application can be found on the town’s website.

The town noted that applicants do not need prior committee or board experience, emphasizing a desire for applicants with diverse skills, backgrounds, experiences and community perspectives.

The Halton Hills Public Library will be hosting an information session about the library board on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Acton branch of the Halton Hills Public Library.

The free session will provide an opportunity for individuals to learn more about the role of the library board, hear from current board members as well as ask any questions.

Interested individuals can register on the library’s website.
