The Tilbury and District Horticultural Society is pleased to welcome Larry Begin to its Beautification Committee, marking a new chapter in the community’s ongoing effort to keep public spaces vibrant and inviting. Larry has recently been hired to water the planters and hanging baskets that brighten Queen Street, a role that helps maintain the welcoming charm residents and visitors enjoy.
Larry steps into the position previously held by Jim Bulley, who cared for Tilbury’s floral displays for more than 15 years before relocating to New Brunswick to be closer to family. Jim’s work extended far beyond watering—he spent countless hours pruning, planting, and nurturing native trees and flowers at Memorial and Northside Parks. His dedication helped shape the look and feel of Tilbury’s green spaces, and his steady presence will be fondly remembered.
Larry says he’s proud to carry on the work Jim began. “I’m happy to do my part to keep Tilbury looking beautiful,” he shared. “People really appreciate the flowers, and it feels good to help keep that tradition going.”
Linda Henderson, one of the original members of the Tilbury and District Horticultural Society, says the committee is thrilled to have Larry join the team. “Our town has always taken pride in its flowers and green spaces,” she said. “Seeing someone step in with the same care and enthusiasm means a lot to all of us who’ve been part of this work for decades.”
The Society notes that maintaining Tilbury’s beautification efforts requires commitment, consistency, and a genuine appreciation for community pride—qualities Larry brings to the role. His arrival ensures that the tradition of caring for Tilbury’s floral displays continues uninterrupted, preserving the friendly, welcoming atmosphere that defines the town.
The Tilbury and District Horticultural Society extends a warm welcome to Larry as he joins the Beautification Committee and the supportive community of Tilbury, helping ensure that the town’s flowers, baskets, and park plantings remain a source of pride for everyone.
