The Town of Halton Hills is inviting residents to participate in Culture Days, a free and by-donation festival running Sept. 18 to Oct. 4.
The annual event showcases local artists, musicians, storytellers and cultural practitioners across dozens of free and accessible programming.
Last year, the town earned the top spot in Culture Days rankings for “Small Municipalities.”
Some notable Culture Days events include:
Halton Hills History Fair — Saturday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hosted at the Georgetown branch of the Halton Hills library, visitors can explore the history of Halton Hills, from its beginnings
Take a Tour of Devereaux House — Sunday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Taking place at 11494 Trafalgar Rd. in Georgetown, Devereaux House doors will open to the public where visitors can learn about how the house was built and renovated as well as the story of the Devereaux family.
Be the Artist at Norval Studios and Gallery — Saturday, Oct. 3, 1 to 4 p.m.
Visitors can meet the artists at Norval Studios and Gallery and also make art themselves. Artists specialize in a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic and watercolour painting, as well as weaving and spinning.
The town is also dedicating exclusive programming around the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, recognized on Sept. 30, to honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, the survivors, their families and their communities.
Events include the Four Colours Drum Circle session on Sept. 22 from 2-3 p.m. and a Moccasin Identifier Project on Sept. 28 from 1:30-3 p.m. both held at the Hillsview Active Living Centre in Georgetown.
An Attachment Hearts workshop will be held at both branches of the Halton Hills Public Library. The Acton branch will host a session on Sept. 29 from 2-4 p.m., while the Georgetown branch will host a session on the same day running from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
